Because roof damage is so common, many fly-by-night contractors set-up shop here, especially between the months of April and June.  Fly-by-night contractors work on selling hopes to homeowners with promises of fixing their roof with quality materials and expertise. Unfortunately, there are quite a few scammers that prey on tornado victims in Oklahoma, so homeowners have to be careful. Looking for quality roofing in Oklahoma City is important, but homeowners need to be smart about how they go about getting their roof repaired or replaced. Here are some telltale signs to look out for:

1. Collect at least 4 references. Most roofing contractors will supply you with at least 3 references, which is good. However, you should request a fourth reference from someone that had to have the contractor come back out to fix a mistake. That way you can really tell how well their work is done, and how well they treat their customers.

2. Read your contract. Make sure that everything you discussed is included in the contract. If anything is left out, write it on the contract and initial by it. The contractor should also initial those items before signing. If you don't feel comfortable with that, then you can have your lawyer review the contract and request a new contract be drawn up.
